  Indiana "Religious Freedom" (right to discriminate)

  sickening to see the photo of the religious zealots all stood around the governor signing into law the right for people to discriminate against others (gay, lesbian, trans-gender) based purely on religious dogma.. if religious people want those freedoms then the can't have it both ways - they cannot complain if *they* are discriminated against.. "sorry, we don't like zionists, get out".

  "oh, it's some special mass and you can't work your shift?

  New to all of this

  i was raised in the truth my whole life, my immediate family are jws and my moms mom is a witness as well as my fathers mom.

  other than that the rest of my family are non jws.

  i was raised very balanced, my parents never forced the truth on me or my siblings like most of my friends parents did getting baptized at ridiculous ages!

  Hello Ghiagirl-

  Don't worry about raising your baby - there really are no terrors like the Watchtower wanted you to fear.

  Puppies etc are happy to stick close to mom until she has taught them all the things a doggie needs to know for survival.

  You and hubby will be in perfect bliss showing your little one how to be loving, loyale, smart, busy and friendly - your little family has a wonderful and unique life of love and learning awaiting.....enjoy with the blessings of all.

  saturday night in the country where i am from, i am sitting by my computer alone and drinking and having some thoughts.

  hos sad isnt that?

  .....i am feeling a bit down right now and dont know what to do.had a call from my mum, she was among other things saying that its not very good that i dont go to meetings if they are not (she and my dad.

  You go right ahead and put on those stupid reports whatever it takes to keep your eye simple, and your load light.

  When I was an elder we had a bro. who religiously (hehe) submitted 10 or 11 hours on his time slip. He did this for years, yet NEVER went to a field service arrangement.

  Needlless to say he got hassled usually, before or during the CO visit.

  He was self employed and claimed he talked to people all the time, and he had a family of boys, so his weekends were spent with his kids, repairing things, welding dune buggies and stuff that his kids enjoyed and learned from.

  I envied the guy - looked after his family, never wasted gas and time on serveus and had the strength of his convictions to bullsh1t the bullsh1tters when they came around.

  I encourage you to drop all guilt in relation to the cults obligations - it's all just a con and you are just a mark.

  as someone brought up as a jw and been an elder and been disfellowshipped (twice!!!

  ) i find it difficult to understand why ex jws have to attack the religion, yes religion, not cult or sect.

  i am no longer disfellowshipped just do not want to practice anymore.

  How Radicalised are Jehovah's Witnesses?

  back in the early 70's, the wt stated that all persons who had lived and died would be resurrected after armageddon.

  only non believers would be killed at armageddon, never to return.

  in short, if you died before the big a, you were guaranteed to return.. this gave rise amongst several ex's to concerns that their well-meaning jw parents might just consider the possibilty of having their offspring "lovingly" bumped off so as to ensure their resurrection!.

  I have been party to someone contemplating the exact scenario that your OP postulates.

  A young man grew up in the 1980s in a very unstable JW family. Theocratically deranged hypocrite father, narcissistic demanding hypocrite mother.

  Classic cult family - really nice mannerly eager kids being raised in a non-stop environment of ''Ambient Abuse''. Cult fear, obligation and guilt at all the stupid meetings and way too much '' correction, disciple and mental regulating'' inside the chaotic home. This was a model family, to be featured as an example at the circuit assembly!

  The young man who thankfully was never baptised, told me years later that in his darkest hours of ruminating on all the dilemas and turmoil the cult had installed into his young brain, that really the best solution would have been to kill everyone in the family before Armegeddon - exactly the raionale you alluded to.

  And perfectly logical if stupid theocratic idiocy is to be taken as fact.

  A few years afterward, in the depths of schizophrenia this once happy young man killed himself.

  The Watchtower is a dishonest, evil organization and Jehovahs Witnesses are a disgrace for being front men for such a cruel hypocritical fraud.

  i have always thought that the members of the governing body are just a decorative elements in the visible cusp of the organization.

  i have read conspiratorial topics about who really rule, but they are not visible.

  Imagine the corporation you would run if 5 million people were assessed $100 each year to sit in a facility that they built you with their donations and free labour. There are thousands of these fleecing sites around the world in use each and every week end.

  The people being fleeced ( Jehovahs silly Witnesses) pay for everything! - and do all of the promotional, recruiting, distribution, public relations, and provide much of the real estate development labour. JWs built it all but Watchtower owns it all, controls it all and does so secretly.

  There is no legal obligation to disclose where a billion dollars of tax free donations disappear to evey year - but lawyers will make sure it disappears to somewhere safe and secret.

  Donations to the watchtower are not used to preach - Jws are doing all that at their own expense.

  Donations to the Watchtower are not used to build Kingdom Halls - Jws are paying every cent for the new buildings that they will never own.

  Donations to the Watchtower for insurance likely just disappear into Watchtowers offshore Captive Companies

  The passing of tax free status for religion around the turn of the century established ''religion'' as the most lucrative snare and racket of the time.

  Funny thing - just this afternoon I found a rather large and aggressive beetle in my garage, so I carefully picked him up (with fingers far away from very big mandibles) and showed the grandkids how he would bite and shake small sticks. I let him go and when the dog bothered him he bit the dog and made him yelp! Fiesty.
  

  An 11year old and an 85 year old, united by curiosity and learning - a truly beautiful picture - I saved it just for the memories of how wonderful it was to be 11 and able to learn from the wise old folks around.

  Help needed: Written material regarding shunning of DF'd and DA'd individuals

  i would like this to become a permanent thread, because i think there are grounds - at least in europe - to take this matter up to the european court of human rights.

  not sure we'll ever get there, but one must start somewhere.

  objective: force, by legal means, the watchtower society and the jehovah's witnesses to stop the practice of shunning ex-jehovah's witnesses, on grounds that it constitutes a violation of human rights.. what is needed: all written material ever published by the watchtower society, especially since 1940's, concerning the practice of shunning.

  Lots of good reading in your thread.

  Lots of good reading in psycology blogs too -about the harm that is done not only to the shunned but to the shunner as well (guilt, shame, coercion) . Seems shunning is part of the human arsenal for social survival, and admit it or not - we all do it under sometimes amusing and varied circumstances - but never a good vehicle to convey your love, compassion and concern for another human being.

  The industrial scale, compulsory, coerced shunning by ignorant bullies is not a personal choice or individual response to a private personal situation -

  A generation ago European Jews were publicly shown to be enjoying a beautiful, care free period as the state provided their every need - simple re-education and re-adjustment of their thinking . In a quiet setting, away from all the stress and responsibilities of the rest of society, and their families and friends - it was all for their own good, so, no expense was spared. The gas chambers operated around the clock.

  Minions today claim to believe that separating people from family and friends is a charitable, loving and benevolent act, and cast their full support behind the notion, because if they don't, the same WT blessings and love will crush them out of cult existence too
